For the second year the Avon Grove Library and Penn Township have partnered up to bring you the FREE Outdoor Summer Movie Series in Penn Park!

The movie will begin at sunset, around 8:30 PM.

Beginning at 7 PM, 22 BBQ will have food for purchase and The Station Hand-Dipped Ice Cream and Water Ice will have ice cream for purchase. There will also be face painting, yard games and a few additional activities until the movie begins.

Learn about who Shakespeare was, his life, and his works! All ages. No registration.


nerfNerf Battle!

July 13, 5:30 – 7 PM

Come after hours and battle with nerf guns in the library book stacks! Must bring own nerf guns to participate. All ages. Registration required. Limited to twenty participants.


slimeSlime Time

July 20, 11 AM

Join us as we read and learn about the science behind slime. Then make your very own slime to take home! All ages. No registration.

August 3, 6 – 8 PM

Families can bring their own pillows and blankets and settle in to read in forts you make located between the book shelves. Snacks and books will be provided. No registration. All ages.

Every Monday, 1 – 2 PM

Get messy with art at the library! Come relax and make art every Monday at the library with all materials provided. No registration required. For all ages.


 

craftsCamp Crafts

Every Wednesday, 1 – 2 PM

Come learn how to make crafts that you would find at any camp! From lanyards to friendship bracelets and more, discover a new craft each week. All materials provided. For ages 7 & up. No registration required.


 

cliffCliffhangers Club

Every Wednesday, 4:30 – 5:30 PM

Bring your pillows and blankets and come listen as Miss Sarah reads aloud from the book “The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles”! Join us every Wednesday to read the book from start to finish with plenty of cliffhangers in-between. Then, we’ll celebrate the end of book with crafts and activities! For ages 6 – 10 years old. No registration required. Program lasts only till the end of the book.

1st through 5th graders are invited to come and learn about a new aspect of space each week to celebrate our “Universe of Stories” theme. Learn through demonstrations, activities, and crafts! No registration required.

2nd through 5th graders can come build, think, and succeed as you compete to fulfill each challenge! A new STEM challenge each week! No registration required.


 

legoLego Club

1st and 3rd Thursday, 4:30 – 5:30 PM

We provide the Legos, you provide the imagination. Build a creation, by yourself or in a group. Display it in the library until the next meeting, when we will dismantle it, and make something new! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Free program for all ages, held in the Community Room. No registration needed.


 

Lego Block Party

Fourth Saturday of the month, 1 – 2 PM

Each session we will build, in a group or on your own, a fabulous creation then play with family and friends. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Free program for all ages, held in the Community Room. No registration needed.


 

Reading to Willow

PAWS for Reading

First Saturday of the Month, 11 AM

Practice literacy skills by reading aloud to a well-trained therapy dog from PAWS for People (Pet-Assisted Visitation Volunteer Services). Read to either Cooper or Wesley, for double the sessions available! Dog and owner will be here for six individual 10-minute sessions. All readers must be pre-registered to participate. Free Program.


trainGeoTrax Build and Play

First Saturday of the month, 1 – 2 PM

All aboard for fun, when we bring out the library’s collection of GeoTrax trains! Use tracks, buildings, and other accessories to create awesome setups. Then enjoy open playtime with your work! For ages 3 and up, held in the Community Room. No registration needed.


Children’s programs at the Avon Grove Library are held in the Children’s Activity Room, just beyond the elevator in the lobby and are free unless otherwise noted. Most programs do not require registration.  Children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Find our Storytimes, on the Storytime Page!

NEW BAD WEATHER POLICY: Morning programs are cancelled if the Avon Grove Library is closed. Afternoon or evening programs are cancelled if the library is closed or closes early. Updated cancellations will be posted in the Library’s Blog and on our Facebook Page.
