Children’s Programs


Slogan ColorChildren’s Programs at the Avon Grove Library are free programs (unless otherwise noted) most are held in the Library Activity Room, just beyond the elevator in the lobby.  Registration is required only if noted.  Adult caregivers are welcome to attend the program with their children.  For children under 12, an adult caregiver must remain in the library during the program.  Registration for June and July activities at the library will begin at the Kick-off Party on June 13th.  Registration for August activities will begin Monday, July 13th.


Lego Club

1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month, 4:30 – 5:30 pm

Use the library’s Legos and Duplos to build, by yourself or in a group. Display it in the library, then next time, dismantle it and we’ll make something new!  Lego club is held in the Library’s Community Room.


CrafternoonRonnie

Thursdays, June 18 to August 20, 2:30 to 3:30 pm

Make crafts this summer using a variety of techniques and materials for students entering 1st through 5th grade.  Limit 12. Register at the Library for these free activities. Registration for August activities will begin Monday, July 13th.


Paws for Reading

June 19 to August 7 at 1 pm – 2 pm

Read aloud to Bodie, a trained therapy dog from Paws for People. Recommended for ages 5 and up.  Must be registered in advance to participate in this free program.


Saturday Block Party

June 27, July 11 and Aug 8, 1:30 – 2:30 PM

We provide the Legos; you provide the imagination! Each session we will choose a theme and  challenge you, individually or in groups, to build a unique creation in one hour.  We’ll take a photo of your design and display photos in the library and/or on social media. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration necessary. Free program. All ages.


Tie Dye T-Shirts

Tuesday, June 30,  2 pm

Register at the library.  $5 materials fee per person.  All ages welcome.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Register at the Library, limit 30.

August 17 – Soap

Summer Science programs for students entering Kindergarten to 3rd grade. Register at the Library for these free activities. Registration for August activities will begin Monday, July 13th.

Creativity Hour

Tuesdays, July 28 and August 25, 6:30 pm

July 28 – Painting

August 25 – Decoupage

Creative craft projects! For children entering 2nd to 6th grade.  Register at the library for this free program, limit 12.


 Basket Weaving

Tuesday, August 11, 1:00 – 3:00 pm

Basket weaving for ages 10 and up. $5 materials fee.  Register at the library, limit 12 children. Registration for August activities will begin Monday, July 13th.

 


 

BAD WEATHER POLICY: Morning Programs are cancelled if the Avon Grove School District has a delayed opening or is closed. Afternoon or Evening Programs are cancelled if the schools are closed or close early. Updated cancellations will be posted in the Library’s Blog and on our Facebook Page.
