Welcome to Avon Grove Library’s Children’s Corner! This is where you’ll learn about all the things we offer to kids at the library. We have a large selection of material for babies, toddlers, elementary, and middle school age students. Come check out our board books, picture books, early readers, juvenile fiction, juvenile biographies and nonfiction material. We also have the latest DVD movies!

CREATE A BUG CONTEST
Keep yourself "buzzy," (busy), with our CREATE A BUG CONTEST. Here's how...
- Each participant makes a bug using the collection of craft materials found in a bag you can pick up at the library during business hours, or at any childrens/teen program.
- This contest is for patrons age 3 and up. Families may enter as a team.
- Each participant may make only one bug. You may add any items of your choice to the materials in your bag. Painting, coloring and markers are also allowed.
All creations should be returned to the library no later than July 18th.
Voting will take place at the library from July 21-31. Voting will be done by patrons.
Winners announced on August 1.
Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

Basic plus learn tips for using them with wikis and blogs which are being used at a growing rate in high school and post secondary academic worlds. Moviemaking for Kids
Week of August 18th (Monday through Friday)
Group 1: 9-11 am; Group 2: 1-3 pm
Ages 9-12
Bring your ideas and creativity! Five students will work as a team to write, script, shoot and edit a 10-minute movie. Each student will take home a copy of the movie on a DVD.
You'll learn how to write a story, create a storyboard, shoot the movie, and edit and burn the movie to DVD. No experience necessary. All equipment and materials provided.

Summer Reading Club Registration
Register for “Catch the Reading Bug”: 2008 SummerReading Club at the Avon Grove Library, beginning May 15th during library hours. First 700 children registered will receive a Club T-shirt. Prizes are given throughout summer to acknowledge reading accomplishments. Suggested donation: $5/per child.
Summer Reading Club Kick-Off Party
“Catch the Reading Bug” this summer! Come to the Avon Grove Library’s Summer Reading Club Kick-Off Party on Saturday June 14 from 10am to 12:30pm. Register for the Club. Enjoy magician Tom Yurasits (10:30am). Make your own ice cream sundae after the magic show. First 250 children receive a free Summer Reading Club Book Bag!
Summer Reading Club Activities
Swarm over to the library for “ant-tics” inspired by the Catch the Reading Bug theme. Stories, crafts, games and guest speakers each week on Wednesdays July 2 toAugust 13, 10-11:00am. For grades 1 and up. Register at the library. Free program. Adult must remain in library during program.
Toddler Tuesdays
Join Miss Denise at the Avon Grove Library June 24 through August 12 at 10:15 am for stories, songs and fun! This program is for children birth to 2 years old and their caregivers. This is a free program. Please register in person. There is a limit of 20 families.
Preschool Storytime
Join us at the Avon Grove Library for Miss Carole’s Preschool Storytimes, Thursdays June 26 through August 14, at 10am and again at 11:30am. Stories, songs, rhymes and simple crafts. For children age 1 to 6. Free program. No registration is required. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Storytime at Starbucks
Every Thursday at 1pm, Starbucks Jennersville, Shoppes at Jenners Village Center, West Grove. Join Miss Lisa, a storyteller from the Avon Grove Library for reading adventure with dancing, singing, games, crafts and snacks. No registration required. Free program. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This is an on-going event.
Bilingual Storytime
Enjoy stories and songs in both English and Spanish, along with simple crafts. Fridays July 25, August 1, 8, and 15 at 10:00am. No registration required. Free program. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Family Baseball Night
Meet the Philadelphia Force, women’s professional softball team and their Mascot on Tuesday June 24, 5-8:00pm. Stories! Crafts! Refreshments! Register at the library. Free program, all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Family Fun: Scavenger Hunt
Search the Avon Grove Library for clues on Tuesday July 1, 6-8:00pm. Register at library. Free program. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Basket Making
Learn the art of basket making on Wednesday June 25, 1:30-3:30pm or July 23, 4-6:00pm. For ages 10 and up. Register at the library. $5/person nonrefundable material fee. Adult must remain in library during program.
Sewing Workshops
Stitch up a clever creation in the Avon Grove Library’s Sewing Workshops on July 15 to 17! Age-appropriate projects are designed for two groups. From 1:00-2:30pm, those age 9 and up will make pillowcases. From 3:00-4:30pm, those age 12 and up will make pillows. All materials provided. $10 non-refundable material fee. Register in person at the library. Limit 12/ per class. Adult must remain in library during program.
Art Workshops – Collage/Pastels/Watercolors
Express your creative talents at the Avon Grove Library! Art Workshops held Tuesday, July 22 (Collage), Wednesday, July 23 (Pastels and Drawing), Thursday, July 24 (Watercolors) at 1:00-2:30pm. $5 non-refundable material fee for each session. Bird House Woodworking Workshop

This hands-on science camp at the Avon Grove Library (July 28 through 31) encourages children to explore the wonders of the ocean and sea life. Sessions offered: Level I (entering grades 2 & 3) and Level II (entering grades 4, 5, and 6). Morning: Level I 9:45-10:45am; Level II 11:00am-noon. Afternoon: Level I 12:45-1:45pm; Level II 2:00-3:00pm. Free program. Parents should register children at the library. Limit 15/per class. Parents must remain in library during program.
