How do I sign up for a library card?
If you live, work or go to school in Chester County, you are eligible to sign up for a free card with proof of residency, school attendance, or employment. There is a $3 replacement fee for a lost or damaged card.

How do I set up an online account at the Chester County Library website?
Go to the Chester County Library System Website and click on “View Your Record”. Then go to “Click here to View Your Library Record”. After completing the information requested, click “Submit”. You may then review your record, renew items, request material, and check the status of requested items online.
How can I obtain material that is not available at Avon Grove Library (Interlibrary Loans)?
You can either obtain the material from within the Chester County Library system or from outside of the Chester County Library system through an Interlibrary Loan. To initiate the process, complete a Materials Request Form located at the front desk. For material owned by the Chester County Library system you may also make your request via the Chester County Library System Website by clicking “View your Record”, completing the information requested and following the links to “Search Catalog” and then placing a hold on the item(s). When your material becomes available at the Avon Grove Library, you will be notified by phone. Material will be shelved if it is not picked up within ten days.
What is the daily cost of overdue materials?
25¢/day – adult books, teen books, adult books on tape, adult books on CD, videos and DVDs
10¢/day – magazines, children’s books and books on tape, and interlibrary loans
How do I reserve library material that is on loan to another library member?
You may place a hold on circulating items at Avon Grove Library or from any Chester County System Library by completing a Materials Request form at the front desk or by accessing the online catalog at the Chester County Library System Website by clicking “View your Record”, completing the information requested and following the links to “Search Catalog” and then placing a hold on the item(s). You may also request items that are not available in the Chester County Library System through our Interlibrary Loan Program. You can initiate this loan by completing a Materials Request Form which is located at the front desk. When your material becomes available at the Avon Grove Library, you will be notified by phone. Material will be shelved if it is not picked up within 10 days.
How can I renew material?
Material can be renewed in person, online, or by phone. The first renewal is for the full loan period (see loan periods above); the second renewal is for one additional week only. Material cannot be renewed if it has been reserved for another library member. Videos and DVDs are renewable for a $1.50 charge. To renew online, you must establish an online account with a four digit PIN on the Chester County Library System Website. This will allow you to review your record and renew material online.
How do I change the information on my account?
If your address, phone number or e-mail address change, you may update your online record by going to the Chester County Library System Website and clicking on “View Your Record”. Then go to “Click Here to Submit Changes to Your Address, Phone Number or E-mail Address”.
Can I use my library card at the other Chester County Libraries?
Yes, the libraries are linked and you may use your card at any site.
Must I return material directly to the library at which I borrowed it?
No, you may return it to any of the Chester County Libraries where it will be checked-in and returned to the owning library.
How can I access and use the catalog system?
You can access the catalog system at home or at the library. Go to the Chester County Library System Website and click on “Library System Catalog”. This page will display several ways in which you can search for library material.
Do you take donations of material?
We currently accept DVDs and books on tape or CD only.
What is the public computer use policy?
To use a computer, you must sign-in at the front desk and present your library card or driver’s license. Children younger than 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult. The printing charge is 10¢ per page.
Is there a copy machine and fax service available?
Yes, copies can be made for 15¢ each and outgoing fax service is available for $1/page.

Are there volunteer opportunities available at the library?
We always welcome volunteers ages 14 and older to help process library materials or shelve books. You may pick up an application at the front desk.
